Jocasta, a Tale by earth
Jocasta, A Tale by Earth is an acclaimed 30-minute poetic theatre production and filmed monologue performed by Shadi Yazdani. Reimagining the timeless legend of Oedipus, King of Thebes, the work offers a profound retelling of the tragedy entirely from the perspective of Queen Jocasta, giving voice to a character often left in the shadows of the original myth.
Produced in 2021, the performance is presented in Persian with English subtitles and blends poetic storytelling with cinematic expression to create an intimate and powerful theatrical experience.

Veronica’s Room
Veronica’s Room is a live performance presented on the social audio platform Clubhouse in 2021,reimagining theatrical storytelling through a virtual and immersive experience. Adapted for an online audience, the performance brought together Persian-speaking listeners from around the world in a unique live theatrical event during a time of global distance and digital connection.
Blending suspense, psychological tension, and dramatic storytelling, Veronika’s Room transformed the Clubhouse platform into an intimate stage, where voice, imagination, and live interaction became central to the audience experience.
The production offered a new way of engaging with theatre, demonstrating how performance could transcend physical space and continue to connect communities through art and storytelling.

The Cripple of Inishmaan
The Cripple of Inishmaan was reimagined as a live radio play in 2021, presented during the COVID-19 pandemic as an innovative theatrical experience that connected audiences through digital performance.
Broadcast live on YouTube and recorded as a radio play, the production transformed physical distance into an opportunity for creative storytelling and artistic connection.
Adapted through voice performance, sound design, and dramatic narration, the play brought new life to the dark humor and emotional depth of the original story.
During a time of isolation, The Cripple of Inishmaan offered audiences an intimate and engaging theatrical experience, demonstrating the resilience of live performance and the enduring power of storytelling in times of uncertainty.

One hour tranquility or “Ārāmesh-e Kasaft-e Bahman dar Roozi ke Montreal bar Sarash Kharab Shod”
is a Persian-language theatrical production presented in Montreal in 2022. The work is an adapted
comedy based on One Hour of Tranquility by Florian Zeller, reimagined through a contemporary immigrant lens that blends humor, tension, and emotional depth.
The production explores themes of identity, displacement, and the search for calm amid chaos in a new city, combining personal narrative with modern theatrical form to create a sharp and intimate stage experience.

We Are Victorious
We Are Victorious is a powerful performance inspired by the “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement that emerged in Iran following the death of Jina Mahsa Amini in 2022.
Through movement, symbolism, and collective expression, the performance explores themes of resistance, resilience, and hope, amplifying the voices of those fighting for freedom and human rights in Iran.
Produced by Eurus Collective and Saba MediaS, the work became known for its impactful public presence, staged across the streets, metro stations, and cultural events in Montreal during the fall and winter of 2022. The performance captured audiences’ attention through its emotional and moving expression of solidarity, leaving a lasting impression on diverse communities.

The Thousand and First Night
The Thousand and First Night is a theatrical production inspired by Bahram Beyzaie’s acclaimed play, reinterpreted for the stage with a focus on contemporary performance and storytelling. Rooted in Iranian myth and history, the work draws on the archetype of Scheherazade to explore powerful narratives of women who shape destiny through wisdom, resistance, and imagination.
The performance weaves together multiple narrative layers, revisiting mythological, historical, and modern perspectives to reflect on themes of voice, survival, and transformation.
Through a poetic and physical stage language, the production highlights the enduring relevance of these stories in today’s world.
This production toured Canada in February and March 2023, with performances in Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver.

The Short and Meaningful Life of a Snowman is a heartwarming children’s stage play that celebrates the beauty of fleeting moments, friendship, and finding meaning in life’s smallest
experiences. Set in a magical winter world, the story follows a snowman on a brief yet unforgettable journey filled with wonder, imagination, and emotional discovery.
Directed by Moha Arzhang and produced by Shadi Yazdani, the play is created for children and
families, blending visual storytelling, gentle humor, and meaningful themes in an engaging
theatrical experience for young audiences.
The Short and Meaningful Life of a Snowman was presented in Montreal and Toronto in February 2025, captivating children and families with its poetic storytelling and magical winter atmosphere.

The Destroyed
The Destroyed is a multilingual multimedia theatrical performance presented in English, Persian, and French. It is inspired by Naqqāli (traditional Iranian dramatic storytelling) and adapted from a postmodern short story by Aboutorab Khosravi. The narrative follows a writer who repeatedly tries to destroy the world they create because they cannot control their characters’ lives.
The work was directed by Ph.D. candidate Seyed Hamidreza Hosseini and produced by Eurus collectif and Saba MediaS.
It was staged in Montreal at Concordia University’s Black Box Theatre in summer 2025.

The production was presented at the United Solo Theatre Festival in New York in March 2025.
Inspired by the timeless Greek myth of Oedipus, Jocasta offers a poetic and powerful reinterpretation of the story from the perspective of Queen Jocasta—a woman whose voice has been largely absent from traditional narratives. The performance explores Jocasta’s inner world, her choices, and her journey beyond the limits of destiny, revealing a deeply human portrait of a woman caught between love, power,
loss, and fate.
Performed in English, Jocasta combines poetic storytelling with an intimate theatrical language to
explore universal themes of identity, resilience, womanhood, and the search for meaning. By placing Jocasta at the center of her own story, the production reclaims the voice of one of mythology’s most complex female figures and invites audiences to experience a familiar legend through a contemporary and compassionate lens.

vibrant theatrical experiences, where ordinary objects and situations come alive through play and creativity.
Designed especially for kids and families, Just Look at It is a joyful and engaging stage play that
celebrates attention, wonder, and the power of simply noticing the world around us.
The production was a successful stage play presented in Montreal in October 2025, where it captivated young audiences through its interactive and magical storytelling.
Iranian Cinema Night
Iranian Cinema Night is a curated screening series showcasing award-winning short films by independent and emerging Iranian filmmakers. The latest edition was held on July 12, 2026, presenting a selection of
powerful stories that explored themes of identity, resilience, and contemporary life in Iran.
All films were screened in their original language with English subtitles and were presented with the full authorization and consent of their respective filmmakers.
